Role in Pregnancy Imaging
In selected cases, 3D imaging can provide additional surface or volumetric views of fetal structures and may help demonstrate certain anatomical findings. 4D imaging allows real-time visualization of fetal surface movements when fetal position and technical conditions are suitable.
Diagnostic Use
The main diagnostic foundation of fetal assessment remains systematic 2D ultrasound, supplemented by Doppler and other techniques when indicated. 3D/4D imaging is used selectively when it adds useful anatomical information or improves demonstration of a finding.
What Affects Image Quality?
Image quality depends on gestational age, fetal position, the amount of amniotic fluid, placental location, maternal tissue characteristics and the body part being examined. A clear facial or surface image cannot be guaranteed at every examination.
Safety and Appropriate Use
Ultrasound should be performed for appropriate medical indications and with responsible use of acoustic output and examination time. At Oasis, 3D/4D imaging is integrated into a diagnostic ultrasound examination rather than treated as a substitute for medical fetal assessment.
At Oasis Diagnostic Centre
Our approach combines conventional 2D imaging, Doppler and volumetric ultrasound as appropriate to the clinical situation, with the priority remaining accurate fetal assessment and meaningful diagnostic information.
