What the Examination Involves
The radiologist may measure the fetal head, abdomen and femur, estimate fetal weight and assess amniotic fluid and placental findings. Doppler may be added when clinically indicated. Estimated fetal weight has a recognized margin of error.
When It May Be Recommended
Routine or indicated growth surveillance; suspected small or large fetal size; follow-up of earlier pregnancy findings.
